Minolta DiMage Scan Elite 5400 Scanner Lens
This Minolta DiMage Scan Elite 5400 Scanner Lens is slightly bigger than the previous one we tested and reviewed, but nevertheless, the results are similarly awe-inspiring. The results are considerably sharp, while the bokeh is soft, bubbly and swirly, and macrography is amazing. Minolta introduced this 35mm film scanner in 2003, and when it wholly discontinued its scanner line in 2006, pulled this one off the market as well. Without further discussions, lets jump into the photo samples we took with this tiny lens mounted on a mirrorless Nikon Z7.

As you can see above (and below), this Minolta DiMage Scan Elite 5400 Scanner Lens gives a very soft and relatively swirly bokeh with a very shallow depth of field. The circles that out-of-focus bright sources create have very soft edges, while the distance created between the lens and camera's sensor thanks to the mounting equipment makes it possible to pull focus at a closer distance from the subject. There's a relatively high contrast in black-and-white photography, while the swirliness along with the bubbles in the bokeh adds to the dreaminess of the shots.
